Behind the “May”…
Hello, and thanks for stopping by!
Ohh May is my blog about food, fitness, cooking, and a healthy lifestyle.

I love to cook and bake, but really enjoy learning the technical aspect. I plan on majoring in Food Science as I enter my first year of college next year, at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. ![]()

I have recipes posted all over the website, so feel free to click around. Additionally, you’ll find Saratoga Peanut Butter Co.’s recipes on my blog. I’m currently an intern/employee for Saratoga Peanut Butter and it’s possibly the best job ever!! Check out their website!
All through my life I’ve been a committed distance runner. I love the way running makes me feel and I love to compete.
Unfortunately, in March of my junior year I sustained a severe tendon injury that left me unable to walk for a long time.

I’m still struggling to walk without pain. I taught myself to swim after the injury and absolutely love it. In fact, I started teaching swimming lessons and working as a lifeguard this year . I’m starting to run again, a little bit at a time.
I’ve had stomach issues in the past which led to the discovery of a casein allergy, meaning I’m dairy free. I’m not a big fan of meat either, so many of my meals and baked goods are vegan or vegetarian. However I do enjoy fish and seafood as often as possible and eat meat on rare occasion.
I grew up in a Catholic house with a lot of faith and I love my family and friends (& puppy) more than anything.
You’ll see some icons through my blog (to organize myself) and here is the key:

I am so glad I finally found your blog! for some reason it doesn’t link back to your blog whenever you comment.
Yay! I loved reading about you. There’s a dairy-free ice cream that I’ve recommended to some people by Good Karma Foods–Rice Divine Carrot Cake flavor. SO DELICIOUS. Not sure if you’re into that thing, but if you are..definitely check it out!

You know how to make me blush!!
Hey! I just stumbled unto your blog today for the first time (saw the link from HEAB’s). I’m a student at PSU right now! It’s a great place.. not that I want to influence you or anything =P
Great blog! Found you from HEAB. My hubby went to Cornell (he’s from Schenectady), and we live south of Cal Poly right now, so those would be my votes.
But I grew up near Penn State, so that’s not a bad place either…
I live really close to Schenectady! I’m anxious to hear back from Cal Poly… I’ve never even been to the west coast!
LOVE your blog. So organized, so colorful and so insightful. You have a great story. Glad you are able to control your IBS. I feel like I definitely still struggle with lots of bloating and such but I am trying to work through all that myself.
PS. You look like such a beast in your relay picture above
PPS. How do you work for a PB company and not eat a whole jar a day? Lol.
Haha most of the time I do eat a whole peanut butter jar!! It’s so good!
Hey love your blog! i just found it off of HEAB!! Gonna go read some of ur past posts to catch up hehe! I wish i had gotten more involved in cooking when i was in high school! o and awesome job on the fundraising!

Hi Meagan!
I got here through HEAB and really enjoy reading your blog!
So, are you in college already? I am taking food science and nutrition classes at NC State this semester, just wanted to see if you ended up there!
Ana
I’m a high school senior, but I can’t wait for college! NC State is awesome… I hope I hear back from them soon!
Yay for upstate NY girls! I grew up not far from Albany. I just found your blog, and I look forward to trying many of your recipes, thanks!
Mae–I can’t believe you work at Saratoga PB! My sister lived in Saratoga up until this past summer, and she was obsessed with the stuff/would send me jars of it. I’m actually really sad that I don’t have that connection anymore since she and her hubby moved, haha. The chocolate peanut butter was like a gift from the heavens!
Its fun getting to know other bloggers out there
Monica
I just went through and read this page and it just made me love you even more. You are the sweetest thing!

Hi! My name is Alisha Newton, and I have a blog too. I just started it in January! It’s about food and cooking sometimes, but I’ve been using it as sort of an online journal/record of my life. I am a runner as well.
It’s very encouraging to find another real/healthy food blogger in high school, because my family and my friends think I am so crazy!!
I am subscribing to your blog… here’s to health and blogging!
Hi Mae!!
Thanks for the comment on my blog. Food science sounds like the coolest major in the whole world. I wish we had something like that here–if only just to take a class or two! I can definitely understand the pain of not being able to run (no pun intended).
Hi Mae! My name is Meghan too, I go by Meg though

Swimming is my first love. I could swim every single day but I’m trying to incorporate other things (like running) into the routine. I hope your tendon is healed! That sounds extremely painful!
